Setting the phone number dialed to gain access to the Internet to a local number is very important. It the customer's responsibility to assure this number is a local call and that use of this number for Internet access will not result additional billing by the phone company.

The phone company may have numbers which it does not consider long distance calls but which are not treated as local calls either. Ameritech calls them Call Plus. Call Plus calls will result in additional charges of a few cents per minute and should not be used to connect to our servers.

To change the number dial by your modem:

  1. Double click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop, opening the "My Computer" window

  2. Double click on the "Dial-Up Networking" icon to open the "Dial Up Networking" window

(On a Windows ME system you will find "Dial Up Networking" icon in the "Control Panel". Double click on "Control Panel" and then open "Dial Up Networking" window)

  3. Right button click on the dialer you wish to change...in this example MIC&S Middletown

On the menu select "Properties" by clicking with the left button.

  4. Change the existing phone number by removing the old phone number and inserting the new number...in our example the Middletown number is 422-4044. Click here for a list of our modem phone numbers.

After changing the number , click on "OK"

  5. Close open windows by clicking on the "X" in the upper right corner of the window.
